Cloaking

Cloaking involves presenting content to the search engine spider that is different from that presented to the user through their browser. With cloaking, content is delivered based on the user's IP address and/or User-Agent HTTP header. Many search engines prohibit unauthorized cloaking, as it is often used deceptively to either give a site a higher ranking or to lure the user to a site with substantially different content than is being sought. Some cloaking is used legitimately, however, to deliver more personalized content to the user.
